Customer Support » Edit Website
Websites often need to be expanded and changed as the company grows and outside elements change. We support a variety of ways to get back in to a finished website to update it ranging from our content-management style custom-built admin areas to full ftp access and designer support.
If your website has dynamic portions, you will be provided with a back-end administration area that looks very much like the rest of your website except that access is password-restricted. The address for this area will be your site domain name slash admin. For example, if your site domain is www.mywebsite.com then your admin area would be located at www.mywebsite.com/admin.
In general, we will provide you with a username and password, but if you have one you prefer we can set it to that instead. Should you lose this password, we can retrieve it for you.
As your site is being developed, you may be given an admin area to review. This is a test admin and is generally located on the development version of your site (something like www.mywebsite.nrgdev.com/admin). When your site goes live, this admin area will no longer be valid and you will need to use the live version (www.mywebsite.com/admin).
Once you log in you will be greeted by a series of links that lead to forms you can use to add, edit, delete, and view information about your site. They are generally no more complicated to use than a standard email contact form, but if you become lost and need assistance or guidance for your admin, we would be happy to walk you through it.
What you can do in your admin area depends wholly on what you have asked for. It can be anything from managing content on certain pages to managing customer orders and accounts. There are few limits to the possibilities of what it can do for your website.
If you would like to edit your website directly, we can provide you with FTP access. This will allow you to log in to your website through an FTP program (or browser, but we recommend a program) to gain a folder-level view of all your site files. From there you can manually add, edit, and delete any file involved as easily as if it were a folder of files on your Desktop.
We do, however, recommend that you or someone on staff have some knowledge of website coding like HTML and CSS. Also, should your site be dynamic, we recommend someone have knowledge of the programming language involved whether it's javascript, active server pages (asp), or the C# flavor of asp.Net though it is possible to edit around this code.

We support access to your website with WYSIWIG graphical editors like Dreamweaver and Frontpage (as well as its replacement Expression Web). The process is similar to FTP Access and the same process applies. With this method, instead of a direct view of your website code in each file, you will be working with a drag and drop interface that will create the code for you.
Just as we suggest some in-house coding knowledge be present for FTP access, we recommend that you have persons on staff experienced in the program you intend to use.
If you do not wish to do the editing yourself or find yourself faced with restrictions not allowing you to do so, whether its lack of time, software, or design staff, we would be happy to do the work for you.
We offer support contracts that are sold as blocks of time. Any editing work requested on the website will be put against this time until it is used up. The amount of work that can be done for a block of time depends on the complexity of the work and rates can vary based on the type of work (programming, graphics, etc).
Since these contracts do not expire, you can buy a large chunk up-front and have edits pre-paid for months (and possibly years) to come. Once this contract is in place, all you need to do is call up or email us and request the edit. We will work with you until it is complete.
